Johnson County Community Foundation awards $200K to local organizations

The foundation said the funding will support a variety of initiatives, including arts & culture, community & economic development, and health & human services programs.
The foundation’s grants committee sought applications from organizations with requests between $20,000 and $30,000 to put toward one proposed program located in, or serving residents of, Johnson County.
The awards, which came as a part of the foundation’s 2023 Bigs Unrestricted Granting cycle, were given to nine organizations. Those include:
- $20,000 to the Aeronautical Center of Technology for its Flight Simulator Program
- $30,000 to Amity Volunteer Fire Department to support its Jaws of Life program
- $20,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Johnson County to expand afterschool programming
- $23,500 to the Franklin Community High School FFA Alumni and supporters for a building fund
- $20,000 to Friends of the Greenwood Public Library for its Early Literacy with Fable the Fox program
- $25,000 to Gateway Services to support Access Johnson County Public Transit
- $20,000 to Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County for permanent drive-thru distribution
- $25,000 to Johnson County Service Services for its Going the Extra Smile program
- $30,000 to Reach for Youth for mental health and positive youth development services in Clark-Pleasant schools.
