The Transition to Teaching competency-based education elementary education graduate certificate will allow students to earn their Indiana initial elementary educator license along with their choice of a handful of specializations.
The Marion-based college said in a news release students can accelerate their program with past knowledge and skills and by demonstrating competency of the material.
“I am excited about this program not only because it required innovation to create, but because it provides an option for licensure for teacher-candidates who have busy lives professionally and personally,” department chair Sarah Hamsher said in the release. “This program provides engaging tasks that promote deep learning of knowledge, skills, and dispositions relevant for today’s elementary teacher – all of which can be mastered in-between ball practices, music lessons, or parent teacher conferences.”
The certificate has accreditation and approval from the Higher Learning Commission, Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and Indiana Department of Education.
