The college last week dedicated the Ivy Tech Barbara J. Hilton School of Nursing and has established the Barbara J. Hilton Nursing Scholarship.
Ivy Tech Southwest says the gift from Frank Hilton, the husband of the late Barbara Hilton, will allow for the purchase of new equipment for the nursing school as well as scholarships for students in the school’s programs. Frank Hilton said his wife empathized with Ivy Tech students because her journey to become a nurse was similar to theirs.
"Donors like Dr. Hilton are the lifeblood of our college, providing funding that help our college and its programs – but most importantly — help our students to realize their dreams and become contributing members of this community," said Ivy Tech Chancellor Jonathan Weinzapfel.
Barbara Hilton served as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville as well as Bristol-Myers before founding Home Health Care Agency. She passed away in 2008.
This is the latest gift to Ivy Tech Southwest from the Hilton family. In 2014, the college dedicated the Frank L. Hilton M.D. School of Health Sciences following a donation from Hilton.
