The project includes a 7,000-square-foot renovation that includes upgrades to existing labs, plus the addition of new labs, study areas and offices.
The college says the project is part of a master plan developed in 2019 to overhaul the 96,000-square-foot Pfau Hall.
“We are thrilled to begin the next chapter in the life of Pfau Hall as we officially begin the renovation of the Baptist Health School of Health Sciences and Life Science Suite,” said Chancellor of Ivy Tech Sellersburg Travis Haire. “These renovations will allow our faculty and students to teach and learn in state-of-the-art classrooms as we prepare the next generation of workers.”
Ivy Tech says the Baptist Health project will occur in conjunction with a separate renovation project utilizing a $3.1 million coronavirus relief grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The funds will assist in renovating 18,000-square-foot within the health sciences wing of Pfau Hall. The project includes a mock hospital and laboratories that will offer clinical settings for healthcare-focused students.
“The new and improved learning environments, state-of-the-art labs, and additional resources have been designed to promote dynamic, interactive teaching and learning that will support student success and strengthen the area’s healthcare workforce,” said Dean of Baptist Health School of Health Sciences Dr. Lacie Couzin. “This project will ensure the campus remains a leader in training students for career opportunities in healthcare for years to come.”
