Huskey, who currently serves as president of Ivy Tech’s Marion campus, will assume the role in September.
Huskey will take over the position left vacant by Andy Bowne, who was appointed senior vice president and chief operating officer of Ivy Tech in July. He will oversee operations for both regions, which cover six campuses in Anderson, Connersville, Henry County, Marion, Muncie and Richmond.
“Having Alex fulfill the role of Interim Chancellor benefits the College and the communities of the East Central and Richmond regions,” said Sue Ellspermann, president of Ivy Tech Community College. “Alex, with his deep career in public service, partnered with his current role as Campus President, provides leadership which will continue and further elevate Ivy Tech’s focus on student success and workforce alignment.”
Huskey has served as president of the Marion campus since October of 2014. Before that appointment, he served as chairman of the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission and superintendent of the Indiana Excise Police.
Ivy Tech did not give a time frame for the selection of a permanent successor for Bowne.
