The university says the online program will train professionals to help businesses navigate complex regulations.
The school will begin offering the Master of Science in Product Stewardship program next August. The university says as graduates advocate for making products in ways that ease regulatory compliance, minimize risk and boost profitability, they will impact the very core of businesses.
"Currently, more narrowly focused environmental and occupational health and safety professionals are tapped within their organizations to fill product-stewardship roles," the university says. "But with little opportunity for formal training, there is a disparity between what employers are seeking and what universities are currently providing."
The university says the demand for graduates of the program will come from every major industrial sector.
