University officials are set to cut the ribbon Wednesday on The STEM Center. Located on the second floor of the Gary campus’ Anderson Library, the new center will focus on providing resources to low-income and Hispanic students.
It comes as a part of a $5 million grant award in 2021 from the U.S. Department of Education’s Hispanic Serving Institution Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and Articulation Program, which supports IU Northwest’s goal of increasing the number of students graduating with bachelor’s degrees in STEM field.
The STEM Center will serve both IU Northwest and Ivy Tech students. Chancellors from both local campuses are expected to give remarks at the ribbon cutting Wednesday afternoon.
