IU Celebrates Dental School Facility Opening

Subscribe NowOfficials from Indiana University are celebrating the opening of the nearly $22 million oral health care clinic at the IU School of Dentistry on the IUPUI campus. The university says the Fritts Clinical Care Center is the first addition to the dental school in 40 years.
The 45,000-square-foot facility includes 125 patient treatment chairs designed, according to IU, to provide maximum ergonomics for dental students and supervising faculty. It also features a courtyard and suspended walkway to connect it to the dental school’s three other buildings.
"This splendid new clinical care center will make the IU School of Dentistry one of the most technologically advanced dental schools in the United States," said IU President Michael McRobbie. "It is a facility of the highest quality that will help the school recruit and retain outstanding faculty and students. It will also allow our students to train in a state-of-the-art technological environment, and it will serve countless patients by promoting optimal oral health."
The building is named after James Fritts, a 1965 graduate of the IU School of Dentistry. IU says nearly $9 million of the funding raised for the project came from the For All: The Indiana University Bicentennial Campaign.
