A $2.1 million grant will support the study of traumatic brain injury at the Indiana University School of Medicine. The research involves a partnership with the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana.

It covers five years and comes from the National Institute on Disability Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research, of which IU is one of its 16 Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems sites throughout the U.S.

Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Chair Flora Hammond, who also serves as chief of medical affairs at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana, says "this work will lead to a deeper understanding of life-long challenges that occur following traumatic brain injury, and test new treatment methods, while helping current patients by sharing that information with clinicians and researchers worldwide."
