This year’s spring semester saw new enrollment increase by 9.1% year-over-year, amounting to 40 students. ISU’s fall semesters have also had two consecutive years of growth as well, the university said.
“This is great news for Indiana State University and for continuing and returning students to Indiana State,” Christopher Olsen, provost and vice president of academic affairs, said in a news release. “To see positive enrollment growth is always good news, but it’s particularly exciting to see it in the spring semester when enrollment numbers typically dip or stagnate.”
The rate of students returning for a second semester is also up from 85% in 2023 to 87.4% this year. The university said this increase could be attributed to more tuition assistance and financial aid opportunities.
ISU said it is attempting to reverse declining enrollment trends. With new growth in the spring semester, overall enrollment is down 2% from last spring.
