ISU Board Approves Budget
University officials broke ground on the Health and Human Services facility project.

Subscribe NowThe Indiana State University Board of Trustees has approved the biennial state budget request for the university. The request for 2017 through 2019 includes $15 million for renovations to the Fine Arts and Commerce Building.
The request will be submitted to the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. It also includes $615,000 for the Indiana Principal Leadership Institute, more than $450,000 for Degree Link and more than $200,000 for the university’s nursing program.
Separately, the board also approved a request for $1.3 million from the commission, the State Budget Committee, the State Budget Agency and Governor Mike Pence for various repair and rehabilitation projects, including exterior lighting improvements, masonry restoration and asbestos abatement.
Additionally, the board gave praise to President Dan Bradley during his annual performance review. Dave Campbell, chair of the board of trustees, said the board was "pleased" with his performance.
"It is critically important that the university maintain this momentum as it kicks off a new strategic plan and works to continue to grow enrollments and improve retention and graduation rates," said Campbell. "The president will also be leading the effort to garner additional state support during the biennial budget process and working to improve private giving to the university. The continued implementation of the master plan, with several major capital projects and improvements underway or in the pipeline, will add to a very busy year."
The board also broke ground on the $64 million renovation and expansion project for the university’s former Arena Building, which will house the College of Health and Human Services. Construction began in July and is expected to be complete in early 2019.
