INnovate Wabash County Competition Winners Named

Subscribe NowStudent entrepreneurs from every Wabash County high school recently took the stage at the Eagles Theatre to compete in the 2021 INnovate Wabash County pitch competition, hosted by Grow Wabash County. Students presented their ideas to a panel of judges, who selected the top four teams, each of which received a cash prize.
Alix Winer from Southwood Jr.-Sr. High School, took first place with Bizzy Beez, an apiary that sells honey and offers bee-related services. Second place went to Northfield and Heartland Career Center student Heath Tackett for his business, Tackett Auto Detailing.
Northfield Jr.-Sr. High School students Ethan Galbraith, Keaton Stout, and Clay Herring won third place for Arklight History Tours LLC, which provides history tours of Wabash. The winners were rounded out in fourth place by Morgan Austin and Kolby Haecker from Manchester Jr.-Sr. High School for their idea, Candor, an apparel company designed to promote mental health.
The winners received $2,000, $1,500, $1,000 and $500, respectively.
“We are constantly astounded by the ideas and proposals our local students come up with in their classes to present to our panel of business professionals,” Gillenwater said. “Grow Wabash County is especially excited to provide support and guidance to these student entrepreneurs as they take the next steps into making these ideas full-fledged businesses that both employ and serve the Wabash County community.”
