The acceleration plan begins Monday, when 20 crews will simultaneously work the 13-mile stretch to have construction complete by summer’s end. Construction includes utility, drainage, sidewalk, pavement and transit station work.
“We know the community is eager to see construction complete and have the Red Line up and operating,” said Mike Terry, IndyGo president and chief executive officer. “Acceleration means that this summer, transit service throughout the county will be more reliable and improve accessibility for all.”
Also beginning Monday, February 11, residents and commuters will see increased evening and weekend construction work, with all street parking being restricted from 38th to 66th on College Avenue to allow for continuous work. IndyGo is also planning two Red Line open houses which are scheduled for Tuesday, February 19 from 11am-1pm and 4pm-6pm at the Indianapolis Art Center on East 67th Street.
