Indy Public Transportation Foundation Awards Grants

Subscribe NowThe Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation has announced the recipients of its Mobility Access Fund pilot’s award grants. The grants provide funding to offer more than $2 million in free or discounted rides each year to veterans, students, seniors, and people with disabilities.
IndyGo says a partnership with OneAmerica Financial, The Indianapolis Foundation and an anonymous donor allowed for a new component to the fund be launched that offers bus passes to nonprofits serving Marion County.
IndyGo says more than $35,000 in bus passes were granted to 12 organizations in the pilot phase. The organizations awarded grants include:
- Bosma Visionary Opportunities Foundation
- Coalition for Homeless Intervention & Prevention
- Dress for Success Indianapolis
- Easterseals Crossroads
- Hawthorne Community Center
- Horizon House
- Indy Black Chamber
- Indy Hunger Network Inc.
- Ivy Tech Foundation
- Marian University
- Shepherd Community Inc.
- Wheeler Mission
Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation Chair Rick Wilson says more than 100 applications were received with requests totaling $1.5 million.
“We’re incredibly thrilled with the amount of interested applicants we received for the Mobility Access Fund and understand bus passes are a critical lifeline for so many individuals in need. As it grows, this fund will decrease the barriers to reliable transportation can be for so many people in our city,” said Wilson.
