The Hamilton County Health Department has approved a comprehensive health and safety plan for next month’s show, creating a special exemption for it to take place.
The show will be open for three days, October 16 to 18 at the Grand Park Events Center in Westfield.
“The event industry has suffered greatly during the pandemic and so too have many of the exhibitors who rely on live events as their primary source of marketing and income,” said Suburban Indy Shows owner Donell Heberer Walton.
Show hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The organization says the show will provide an opportunity for local small companies, artists and entrepreneurs to do business in a time where so many other events have been cancelled.
“Some of these businesses are on the verge of bankruptcy,” says Heberer Walton. “When I shared the good news of our approval from the health department, I had so many thankful emails come in! These entrepreneurs are like me… we just want the opportunity to show that we can do business, in person, safely.”
Organizers says consumer event-focused additions to the Grand Park safety protocols include attendance capacity limits, widened and one-directional aisles, eight-foot side drape between exhibitors, face covering regulations that align with local mandates, and hand sanitizer at every exhibit.
The Suburban Indy Home & Outdoor Living Show has added a Holiday Marketplace component to their show to accommodate exhibitors who don’t have a holiday event in which to exhibit in 2020.
