Indy Eleven to Play at Lucas Oil Stadium

Subscribe NowThe Indy Eleven joined representatives from the city of Indianapolis and the Capital Improvement Board Monday to announce plans to move most of its home games to Lucas Oil Stadium for the 2018 season. Indy Eleven Owner Ersal Ozdemir says the decision is part of the team’s "commitment to fielding a high quality club in a high quality environment."
Earlier this month, the team announced it would join the United Soccer League for the 2018 season. The move comes after the North American Soccer League announced it would cancel its 2018 spring season. President Jeff Belskus talked about the move with Inside INdiana Business Sports Contributor Bill Benner.
In November, Belskus said the city will continue the push to bring a Major League Soccer franchise to Indianapolis. The MLS recently announced Nashville as one expansion site, while Cincinnati, Detroit, and Sacramento are finalists for another remaining slot. Indianapolis and seven other cities are continuing to compete for two additional expansion franchises down the road.
Lucas Oil is a multiple-time winner of Stadium Journey‘s rankings of best stadium experiences in the National Football League. In 2012, the publication ranked it best in all of professional sports.
