Enthusiasts of the popular Midwest backyard sport from across Indiana are invited to the American Legion Mall in downtown Indy to compete in the first Indy Cornhole Classic. The event takes place from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday.
An all-skills event, Cornhole Classic organizers have planned recreational play and competitive tournaments with donated and cash prizes available for winning teams. Entries fees range from $40 to $70 with proceeds directed to the Indiana War Memorials Foundation, an organization that maintains veteran memorials.
“The best part of this tournament is that participation makes a direct, positive impact on the lives of our veterans and their families,” Indiana War Memorials Commission Executive Director Brig. Gen. J. Stewart Goodwin said in a news release. “The funds raised here will go a long way in supporting and maintaining the beautiful monuments and memorials that pay tribute to the brave men and women who’ve served our nation over the years.”
The tournament was organized by Custom Cornhole, which has managed more than 1,500 tournaments over 17 years. The Cornhole Classic tournaments were played among a festival atmosphere with free games and food vendors onsite.
Organizers said the Iowa State Fair is the current record holder for the largest single-day cornhole tournament. More information about Indy Cornhole Classic event registration is available by clicking here.
