Indy businesses make ‘Favorite Mom and Pop Shops’ list

Yelp and Entrepreneur Magazine on Tuesday released their inaugural list of “America’s Favorite Mom and Pop Shops,” and two businesses in Indianapolis made the cut.
The list features 150 U.S.-based businesses in 10 categories that were ranked on a variety of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews on Yelp.
The partners identified independently-owned and operated businesses with a maximum of four locations in each category. Only one business per state was included in each category as well.
North Mass Boulder in Indianapolis is ranked No. 2 in the Fitness & Instruction category. Located at 1411 Roosevelt Avenue on the city’s near east side, the company features a wide variety of rock climbing terrain, as well as yoga and fitness studios, social and work spaces, classes, and a health-oriented café.
The Botanical Bar, a plant and plant care shop at 1103 N College Ave in Indy, is ranked No. 4 in the Shopping category.
