On Friday, Gov. Eric Holcomb announced that Ryan Hadley will step down form his role as the OED’s executive director.
In his place, Holcomb is appointing the energy department’s current policy director, Julie Kempf, as acting executive director. She will begin her new role on Oct. 28.
News of Hadley’s departure came in a press release, which did not give a reason for his move. Hadley was appointed at the beginning of 2022. The release credits his leadership with increasing the OED’s federal program portfolio from $1.5 million to $234 million, making the agency more responsive and starting the Commercial Solar & Wind Energy Ready Communities Development Center.
Before the Office of Energy Development, Hadley worked with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
Kempf holds a masters of public affairs and a masters of environmental science from Indiana University.
