ISU’s Division of University Advancement raised just over $30 million in the fiscal year 2023. The push comes as a part of the university’s first year in the public phase of its Be So BOLD Campaign, which seeks to raise $100 million by June 30, 2025.
The $30 million total represents the highest annual amount collected in during a fundraising campus in ISU history, university officials said in a news release Wednesday.
The Be So BOLD Campaign launched publicly last September with goals of expanding academic offerings and creating greater access to education among students from diverse backgrounds. The campaign also holds a focus on student scholarships, experiential learning, athletics and faculty excellence.
“Our Foundation team, the campus community and loyal donors, have created a culture of philanthropy that ultimately transforms the lives of students,” ISU Foundation Board Chair Rich Porter said. “I am thrilled we achieved a record fundraising year and congratulate the entire team for their continued efforts during the Be So BOLD Campaign.”
More than 6,800 donors made contributions to the university over the last year with 1,200 giving at least $1,000. Over 1,500 were first-time donors, university officials said.
One donor — 1970 alumnus Steve Bailey and his wife Gloria — broke the university’s record for the largest individual contribution, giving $8 million for the naming rights to ISU’s Bailey College of Engineering and Technology.
The university recorded $12.6 million total in contributions to its endowment and 19 new endowed funds were created. University officials say the support serves as a testament to ISU educational mission.
“This investment will have a significant impact on the lives of countless students for years to come,” ISU President Deborah Curtis said. “The Be So Bold campaign for Indiana State University is creating a lasting tradition to lift up many more Sycamores as they achieve their dreams of earning an Indiana State degree.”
