Among them are multiple Division II swimming and diving championships.
Indianapolis will play host to the 2027 and 2028 DII Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium.
The other championship events set to take place in Indiana are:
- 2026 Division I Cross Country Finals, Terre Haute
- 2027 Division III Cross Country Finals, Terre Haute
- 2027 Division I Men’s Golf Regionals, Bloomington
- 2027 Division I Women’s Golf Regionals, Fort Wayne
- 2027 and 2028 Division II Men’s Basketball Elite Eight, Fort Wayne
- 2027 and 2028 Division II Women’s Basketball Elite Eight, Fort Wayne
- 2028 Division I Men’s Golf Regionals, South Bend
The newly announced events are in addition to the previously announced Women’s Final Four, as well as the Division II and Division III Women’s Basketball National Championships to be held in Indianapolis in 2028.
Nicolle Campbell, director of sales at Visit Fort Wayne, said the organization is confident that athletes and fans will have the same “excellent” experience that has been demonstrated over the past six years that the city has hosted the Division III Men’s Basketball Championships.
“One of the initial goals of our 10-year Tourism Master Plan is setting up Fort Wayne and Allen County to be a national sports event destination,” Campbell said in a news release. “Winning these NCAA events with the support of our partners at Purdue Fort Wayne, Sycamore Hills Golf Club, the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference is a perfect way to launch Fort Wayne toward the realization of that goal.”
The Indiana Sports Corp said Indianapolis has hosted more than 70 NCAA Championships across all three divisions since 1980, when the city hosted the Men’s Final Four for the first time.
