Current Executive Director Carey Hamilton announced in December that she would step aside to dedicate her time as an Indiana State Representative in House District 87.
IRC Board President Cassie Stockamp says, "We are very pleased to have found a new Executive Director with the leadership, background and experience of Ms. Mitchell. I am confident that experience in and passion for sustainability will continue IRC’s momentum and success and build upon the previous 28 years of working toward a more sustainable Indiana. Ms. Mitchell has a commitment to IRC’s core values and mission of supporting waste reduction, reuse, composting, and recycling activities in Indiana. The Board of Directors has great confidence she will develop meaningful relationships with IRC members and our partners in the community and in the industry."
Mitchell previously worked as Director of Sustainability at Prosperity Indiana, and holds a J.D. from IU’s Robert H. McKinney School of Law, and a M.S. in Landscape Architecture from the University of Michigan. The transition period between executive directors will begin on March 5th,
