Foster Success, which provides financial, educational and social support for young people transitioning out of foster care, said Wednesday that it will extend these services into Arizona, Ohio and Maryland.
The organization has created a new not-for-profit, Foster Success Education Services, to oversee the work in other states and hire staff in each location; three in Arizona, three in Ohio and one in Maryland, as well as one new member in Indiana.
Foster Success Education Services is now managing federally funded Education and Training Voucher programs in each of the three new states. The program provides academic and financial support to young adults in foster care or those who have left the system, and are enrolled in qualified college, university or other education programs
“The formation of the new nonprofit and expansion into three states is an exciting way to help young adults with lived foster care experience around the country work toward a more successful future,” Foster Success Education Services Board President Daniel Larner said in a news release. “Education and skills training are truly the keys to success and we’re proud to help administer the ETV programs in Arizona, Ohio and Maryland.”
The organization has managed Indiana’s Education and Training Voucher program since 2009 and provides support to 24,000 young people across the state.
“With both financial and staff support, the Indiana ETV program has helped thousands of young adults transitioning out foster care navigate post-secondary experiences and persist and complete their degrees,” Foster Success President & CEO Maggie Stevens said. “We are excited and honored to be able to support individuals across the country in working toward these same goals.”
