Indiana Members Credit Union makes C-suite promotions

The credit union is making 10 senior leadership promotions, including the appointment of John Newett as president and CEO.
Newett succeeds Ron Collier who retired in December 2022. Newett joined IMCU in 2011 as director of planning and administration. He was named president in April 2022. The credit union says his background includes more than 26 years of experience in the financial services industry.
“We are proud to appoint John Newett as our President and CEO,” said Robert Martin, board chairman. “John’s dedication, leadership, strong financial background, and proven success at Indiana Members Credit Union position him well for this role. Our Board of Directors is confident that John and this senior leadership team will continue to build on the IMCU legacy of member service, growth and success.”
Additionally, IMCU has promoted Todd Habig to chief financial officer, where he will lead the credit union’s commercial services, accounting, and investment services. He has been with IMCU for 37 years, overseeing finance, compliance and several mergers.
“These changes allow IMCU to more efficiently manage a growing organization and position us to deliver on our mission of People Helping People,” said Newett. “They each have and will continue to play a vital role in leading our organization as we continue to deliver quality financial services to Hoosiers, and assist in helping our communities thrive.”
IMCU has promoted Justin Sinders to the role of chief strategy officer, focusing on strategic initiatives such as growing new markets and expanding the credit union’s information security and business intelligence programs. Sinders, who has been with IMCU since 2012, will oversee the market presidents, finance and mortgage departments, as well as serve on the commercial loan committee.
Scott Mann, who has been with IMCU for 34 years, is being promoted to chief retail officer. In the role, Mann will lead retail operations, including the branch network, consumer lending, and deposit operations.
Thorpe Miller, who’s been with the credit union for 10 years, is being promoted to chief marketing officer. Miller will continue to lead the marketing and business development teams, in addition to overseeing the community relations department and initiatives.
Tom Wellman is being promoted to chief risk officer and general counsel. Wellman, who’s been with IMCU for 15 years, will lead risk management, legal, compliance, and collections.
Jeff Hawkins, who’s been with IMCU for 30 years, has been promoted to senior vice president of information systems. Hawkins will continue to lead the information systems department and focus on positioning the credit union with best in class technology solutions.
Chantelle Sparks has been promoted to senior vice president of human resources. Sparks has been with IMCU for 30 years and will lead DEI, recruiting, training, employee development, as well as payroll and benefits.
Michael Murphy has been promoted to senior vice president of commercial services, leading the credit union’s business lending team with a continued focus on small businesses. Murphy has been with IMCU for 17 years and has more than 30 years of commercial lending experience.
Lastly, IMCU has promoted Daralyn Schneider to senior vice president of mortgage services. Schneider, who’s been with IMCU since 2014, will continue to lead the mortgage lending team, focusing on process improvement and training opportunities.
