Indiana Landmarks Announces Servaas Winners
Students worked for three years to restore Valparaiso's 1912 depot.

The Trades Corp. is being honored for addressing a skills gap in training tradespeople in repairing and restoring historic structures. The organization raised money to purchase the historic 1912 depot in Valparaiso, which was set for demolition, and move it to the school. Once there, students spent three years restoring it.
Wabash marketplace won the Servaas Memorial Award in the nonprofit category for its work in leading downtown revitalization efforts. Its projects include a facade grant program and a revolving loan fund to help attract businesses.
Stanley Madison won the Williamson Prize for outstanding individual leadership. He led the effort to rescue the Lyles Station School in Gibson County and turn it into a museum that has attracted nearly 15,000 students since 2011.
