Twenty-five health centers in Indiana will share in more than $1.6 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The funding will support health information technology improvements.

The grants are part of $87 million in funding for more than 1,300 health centers in every U.S. state, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the Pacific Basin.

The department says upgrading electronic health record systems will lead to better decisions and increased engagement. This is the department’s first significant investment focused on health information technology since 2009. The funding comes from the Affordable Care Act’s Community Health Center Fund.
