The nonprofit says the move will put it "closer to the seat of state government in Indiana" and help establish collaboration with local environmental groups and universities.
The IFA says its mission is to preserve the long-term health and well-being of Indiana’s native forests. The organization consists of a staff of five people, all of whom made the relocation.
Some of the IFA’s programs include a campaign to create 13 State Wild Areas that would be protected from logging in the state forests. The organization is also working on a "comprehensive inventory of life" on a 900-acre portion of the Morgan-Monroe/Yellowwood Back Country Area.
