The tourism organization for the northwest Indiana county said in a news release that for-profit, nonprofit and cities and towns are eligible to apply for up to $5,000.
“These grants are a vital part of Indiana Dunes Tourism’s mission to promote our destination and contribute to our communities,” President and CEO Christine Livingston said in the news release. “They are meant to provide local support to enhance visitors’ experiences and improve the quality of life for our residents.”
Three types of initiatives are eligible for funding:
- Community development projects such as the creation or improvement of attractions, facilities or experiences within Porter County that attract out-of-county visitors and improve the quality of life for residents. The maximum request is $5,000.
- Events such as Porter County festivals, special events, conventions and sports tournaments that attract visitors from outside northwest Indiana. Seasonal and holiday events are excluded. The maximum request is $2,500.
- Marketing efforts for such community development projects and events if they target audiences outside Porter County. The maximum request is $2,500.
The grants are for fiscal year 2025 for projects running from January to December. The deadline to submit an application is Dec. 1. Apply at IndianaDunes.com/Grant-Programs.
Dustin Ritchea, communications and creative director for Indiana Dunes Tourism, said the organization plans to open the grant applications every November so the money is available to the recipients throughout the fiscal year.
“We continue to streamline and simplify the grant application process, and we’re excited to work with new and returning partners to promote this place we call home,” Ritchea said in the news release.
