The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration announced a new grant fund Monday that incentivizes employers who support child care in a variety of ways.
The FSSA’s Office of Early Child Care Fund will oversee the Employer-Sponsored Child Care Fund which offers up to $750,000 to eligible employers.
Potential uses of the grant include providing on-site child care, offering child care tuition benefits and sponsoring dependent care assistance plans.
The fund totals $25 million and is supported by remaining federal relief dollars awarded to Indiana during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Indiana Manufacturers Association is also supporting the effort.
“Employers know first-hand the critical needs of their employees, and are best positioned to partner in their communities to create child care solutions that will help build and retain their workforce,” Gov. Eric Holcomb said in a news release. “This targeted grant program will boost Indiana’s economy and most importantly empower the state’s youngest learners with the tools they need to be successful in the years to come.”
Eligible employers must be in Indiana and employ 20 or more people. The FSSA will also accept applications from a group of employers with 20 or more people on staff, as well as community-based nonprofits representing companies with 20 or more people on staff collectively.
The FSSA will accept applications for Employer-Sponsored Child Care Fund grants until 11:59 p.m. Nov. 22. A list of eligible expenses can be found by clicking here. More information on the program, including about how to apply, can be found by clicking here.
