OneCause, an online and event fundraising platform, received a gold medal in the business service category in Inc.’s inaugural Best in Business Awards.
As the pandemic forced the postponement or cancellation of fundraising events, OneCause developed systems to help nonprofits with virtual fundraising services.
“As with many industries, 2020 will be marked as the beginning of a massive change in the way nonprofits use technology to connect with donors and raise money for their missions,” said Steve Johns, chief executive officer of OneCause. “The nonprofit community has been resilient, leaping into new digital experiences as they faced unprecedented challenges this year.”
OneCause says its online, event fundraising solutions helped nonprofits raise $355 million.
Greenwood-based The Garrett Companies received a silver award in the real estate category. Inc. said affordable housing has been a challenge during the pandemic. It says Garrett is pinpointing its affordable housing projects in markets where the cost of housing has outpaced service job wages.
The third Hoosier company is Senior Shopping Service located in the Delaware County town of Chesterfield, which was acknowledged in the general excellence category.
The company specializes in adaptive clothing and health products for residents in nursing homes across the country.
Inc. says Senior Shopping Service set-up an extra food pantry during the early days of the pandemic to help offset demand at another food pantry in the community. The food pantry remains in operation.
