Our partners at WPTA-TV report the Harvester Power Plant is set to be demolished because officials say it is beyond repair.
The building, which supplied power to the truck manufacturing plant, has stood for almost a century and has sat vacant since 1983.
“This is one that we were not able to save and really no one could save it,” said Ryan DuVall, founder of Harvester Homecoming Inc. “The skyline is not going to be the same, when you look out and see the tower from a far and see those smokestacks.”
Duvall says crews will shortly begin the process of removing asbestos from inside the power plant.
