She previously served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Tanya Walton Pratt, District Judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. As a clerk, Porter conducted legal research and prepared entries on legal matters that included patent infringement, contracts, tax, antitrust, civil rights, personal injury, consumer credit, discovery matters and criminal and other regulatory areas at different stages of litigation. She also assisted with courtroom proceedings.
She also worked as a contract attorney for the Indiana Civil Rights Commission where she reviewed civil rights complaints and investigations and drafted findings on probable cause. Previously, Porter was a federal tax consultant for Deloitte Tax LLP. In this role, she provided federal and state tax compliance and consulting services to corporate, partnership and individual clients; researched and analyzed a wide-range of issues related to business transactions and tax implications; and prepared corporate, trust and individual tax returns as well as federal and state estimated payments.
Porter earned her juris doctor, cum laude, from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2015. During law school, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Tanya Walton Pratt and clerked for Duke Energy Corp., the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Indiana Office of the Attorney General, Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. Porter graduated from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business with a bachelor’s in finance in 2009.
