Two new student-developed ice cream options will be sold Saturday in Ross-Ade Stadium as the Boilermakers take on the Syracuse Orange.
The flavors — Boiler Chips and One Giant Scoop — were developed by students in Purdue’s Food Entrepreneurship and Manufacturing Institute in partnership with Glover’s Ice Cream in Frankfort.
The two options will be sold in eight-ounce retail cups. Boiler Chips is a new caramel chocolate chip flavor while One Giant Scoop is an ode to an original vanilla recipe used in the Purdue University Creamery, which closed in 1969.
“It’s no secret that I love a good scoop of ice cream and the Old Gold and Black,” Purdue President Mung Chiang said in a news release. “This ice cream embodies the Purdue spirit. Thanks to all the Boilermakers involved.”
Chiang noted that the Boiler Chips ice cream was taste tested by incoming students in the Boiler Gold Rush orientation program.
A portion of the ice cream sales will support professional development opportunities for students in the College of Agriculture’s food science department. Boiler Chips and One Giant Scoop will also be sold in the Boilermaker Market at the Purdue Memorial Union and made available through Purdue Food Co. catering.
