He comes to the position after working for Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. for 28 years, most recently serving as senior director of Lilly Research Laboratories Operations.
In his previous role, McGill was responsible for science and technology partnerships, serving as the interface between academic institutions and scientists at Lilly Research Labs, according to the IBRI. The institute says McGill will bring his experience in collaboration, partnership, research operations and ventures to the COO position.
"Dr. McGill’s expertise encompasses scientific excellence, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a collaborative background – all of which are in alignment with the Institute’s core values and are essential for moving our programs forward," said Rainer Fischer, chief executive officer of IBRI. "With our scientific strategic plan in place, his knowledge implementing programs with Indiana’s innovation and academic research communities, as well as industry, will be invaluable."
The IBRI says McGill will work with Fischer to pursue additional work with academic partners and other stakeholders throughout the state.
