I&M Announces $2M Upgrade to Marion Substation

Subscribe NowFort Wayne-based Indiana Michigan Power has begun the process towards a $2 million upgrade of an aging electrical substation in Marion. I&M says the planned upgrade will reduce frequent power disruptions from the electric transmission network.
The utility says some elements of the Anaconda substation, originally built in 1950, are still supported by wood structures that require frequent maintenance.
I&M intends to retire the old substation and replace it new with a structure, the Wiremill Substation. The company also intends to build a quarter mile long overhead transmission line.
The utility says the project will not impact many customers when it gets underway in about 18 months. 2023. The project is expected to be complete in late 2023.
