I-65 Construction Update

Indiana Department of Transportation crews will begin to clean up the interstates after two years of freeze/thaw cycles. Crews will be working in segments, including patching and repaving work.
INDOT crews will begin work in earnest on northbound and southbound in segments, beginning on weekend nights from April 26 through August, but will be doing preliminary work beginning Wednesday.
Closure schedule:
- Wednesday, April 24 Segment 1 – Southport Rd to I-465 and Segment 2 – I-465 to south split will have two northbound lanes closed. One lane will be open.

Thursday, April 25 Segment 1 – Southport Rd to I-465 and Segment 2 – I-465 to south split will have two northbound lanes closed. One lane will be open. The on and off ramps to Southport Road will remain open.

Friday, April 26 – Monday, April 29 – Construction workers will be beginning bridge deck patching and bridge joint repairs. Segment 2 – all northbound lanes on I-65 will be closed from 9 a.m Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. Segment 1 – Two northbound lanes on I-65 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. One lane will be open at all times. The off ramp from I-65 N to Southport Rd will remain open. The on ramp from Southport Rd to I-65 N will be closed.
Construction schedule:
- Construction teams will work Northbound from Southport Road to 465 to the north split, then Eastbound from the north split to I-70 to Belmont Avenue. That work is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of June.
- Teams will move Southbound From Southport Road to the north split, then Westbound from the north split to I-70 and Belmont Avenue. Work is scheduled to be completed in August.
Detour information:
- During the full closure on I-65 N, drivers are encouraged to take I-465 W to I-70 E to downtown or take I-465 W up to I-65 N. Click here to learn more about work zones and traffic alerts.
