Stewart to serve as the bank’s next executive vice president and chief financial officer. Stewart most recently served as deputy CFO for First Interstate BancSystem Inc. in Billings, Montana.
In addition to his financial services experience, Horizon said in a news release Monday that Stewart also brings experience in strategic planning, corporate development and investor relations to the bank’s leadership team.
“John has a proven and successful track record of leadership experience within larger organizations across many financial disciplines,” CEO Thomas Prame said in the release. “His broad and strategic understanding of how to create immediate shareholder value while positioning an organization for sustained top peer performance will be a great addition to the highly talented senior leadership team already in place.”
Stewart will succeed Mark Secor, who has served as CFO for the past 16 years and will transition to the new role of chief administration officer. During his time as CFO, Horizon said Secor helped the bank grow from $893 million in assets to $7.8 billion and successfully integrate 12 mergers.
Stewart will begin his new role on May 20.
