Organizers hope the event will also attract startup companies to look at downtown Marion as a place to create or expand their businesses.
Calling it the “Community Pitch Night,” four business startups will go before a panel of judges and a live audience to pitch their business plan. Anyone from across the state can apply. Applicants who are selected to compete will battle for a prize package which includes a one-year free lease in downtown Marion in the Ridley Towers.
The city and business leaders have invested $7 million in the redevelopment of the historic building.
The prize package also includes tax, legal, and strategic planning advice. The winner also receives product branding and social media consulting.
Applicants must apply by August 15. The competition will be in October.
