Ross Correctional Institution is a 1,700 acre facility opened in 1987 that houses 2,027 offenders.

“We're very happy to have been selected by DRC to provide a renewable energy solution that will produce tremendous savings, and also provide solar installation training for offenders to help reduce recidivism,” said Charlie Slavik, Solar America's Vice-President of Marketing and Sales. “Workers with green job experience are in great demand, and helping offenders gain skills that can help them compete for good jobs when they're released is a benefit to us all. When it’s completed, the Ross Correctional project will be one of the largest non-utility solar thermal installations in North America utilizing 400 of our SunQuest 250 solar thermal collectors.
