Hoosier schools among Wall Street Journal’s ‘Best Colleges’

Subscribe NowThe Wall Street Journal has unveiled its “2024 Best Colleges in the U.S.” ranking and 11 Indiana institutions are included. The publication evaluated the schools on criteria in three categories: student outcomes, learning environment and diversity.
The WSJ compiled the list in partnership with research partners College Pulse and Statista. To be included in the ranking, colleges and universities had to meet several criteria, including being Title IV eligible, awarding four-year bachelor’s degrees, and having more than 900 students.
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is the highest-ranked Indiana school on the list at No. 17 in what it says is its first year of inclusion.
“We believe that a strong return on investment is achieved through the combination of our high-quality education, cutting-edge facilities, and exceptional career opportunities,” Rose-Hulman President Robert Coons said in a news release. “These elements inspire our students to achieve their maximum potential and turn their dreams into reality.”

- 92. DePauw University
- 115. Purdue University – West Lafayette
- 154. Indiana University – Bloomington
- 165. Butler University
- 192. Valparaiso University
- 300. IUPUI
- 332. Ball State University
- 389. Taylor University
- 400. Indiana State University
Princeton University tops this year’s ranking, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale University, Stanford University, and Columbia University.
