Three Indiana facilities have been recognized with the Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence. The awards recognize extraordinary environmental efforts in areas including pollution prevention and renewable resource use.

According to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, the recipients include:

The General Motors Fort Wayne Assembly plant, which has increased its usage of landfill gas as a renewable energy source.

Hanwha Q Cells’ Maywood Solar Farm in Indianapolis, which has transformed a previously-contaminated property into a solar farm capable of generating more than 10 megawatts of power each year.

Raytheon IIS  Indianapolis, which has reduced energy consumption by 13 percent and has been a "Zero Landfill" facility since 2011.
