SmartAsset also used income inequality, home affordability, housing costs as a percentage of median income, poverty rate, unemployment rate, percentage of residents without health insurance and average commute time as metrics to determine the list.
The Indiana cities included in the ranking are listed below:
- Lafayette – No. 5
- Fishers – No. 6
- Carmel (tied with Lee’s Summit, Missouri) – No. 13
- Muncie – No. 43
- Bloomington – No. 74
- Hammond (tied with Castle Rock, Colorado) – No. 100
- Gary – No. 208
SmartAsset says it first ranked each city in each metric to determine each city’s average ranking. The website then used the average ranking to create the final scores. The city with the highest average ranking received a score of 100.
