Holcomb, Schellinger on Second Trans-Pacific Venture

Subscribe NowGovernor Eric Holcomb and Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger have started their second trans-Pacific trip in less than a month. This trip will take the Indiana delegation to China and India. Earlier this month, Holcomb and Schellinger traveled to Japan and South Korea.
Holcomb and the delegation are beginning the trip in China, meeting with global business leaders and government officials in Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou.
Holcomb and Schellinger will then travel to India, visiting New Delhi and Mumbai to meet with government, academic and business partners.
“It’s the perfect time to be making the trip,” Gov. Holcomb said. “We’ll use our time in China and India to strengthen our relationships with these important international partners.
But it’s not all business. In Mumbai, the travelers will watch the Indiana Pacers play against the Sacramento Kings in the NBA’s inaugural games in India.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says the Governor will also participate in the World Economic Forum’s India Economic Summit in New Delhi.
According to IEDC data, Indiana is home to 21 China-based business establishments, which support approximately 2,500 jobs across the state, and eight India-based business establishments, supporting 1,000 jobs throughout the state.
The Governor will return to Indiana on October 6.
