High School Dedicates Studios to Late Broadcaster
Throckmorton was the radio voice of the high school for over 50 years.

Ted Throckmorton was the radio voice for the school from 1962 until his passing in 2015.
The new WJHI studio was dedicated to Throckmorton Saturday prior to the school’s varsity boy’s basketball game. His children, David and Mindy, were in attendance for the dedication. Mindy said broadcasting for the school meant everything to Throckmorton.
"He did it for nothing," she said. "It was simply on a voluntary basis. He was never paid for it. He really, really enjoyed doing it. He wouldn’t have had it any other way."
Throckmorton graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1946. He was inducted into the Indiana Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2011.
Mindy said the outpouring of support for her family from the community after Throckmorton’s passing was incredible. "It made it easier for all of us when we realized how much this community truly did love my dad and they were grateful for what he did for the community."
When asked what she thought her dad would say upon seeing the new studio, Mindy said, "He would say ‘Oh, it’s too much,’ all the while standing there smiling. He would’ve loved it."
