Chief Executive Officer Mike Row says co-locating its Henry County WorkOne office within the New Castle-Henry County Public Library will help Eastern Indiana Works be "more fluid" while delivering services to job-seekers at a high-traffic place. In Randolph County, the organization has space alongside the Randolph Economic Development Corp. office, it is co-located with the Interlocal Community Action Program in Connersville and Row says a new location partnership in Rushville will be detailed later this year.
During an interview with Inside INdiana Business, Row said locating within the library in New Castle holds "tremendous value" for the organization in its efforts to connect employers to a skilled workforce. "We are also exploring different models in different communities," Row said, "because the way the federal workforce law is established, each region — which is made up of unique communities with unique needs and unique sector partners — is authorized by the federal law to establish a workforce system that meets those unique needs, so it’s really a beautiful thing to watch."
Eastern Indiana Works’ footprint includes Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Henry, Jay, Randolph, Rush, Union and Wayne counties. It collaborates with public and private sectors partners to help fund credential, certificate and degree programs to skill-up local jobs seekers. Eastern Indiana Works is one of 12 workforce boards throughout the state.
New Castle-Henry County Library Director Winnie Logan "our library is centered on helping the community live, learn, and grow. Hosting WorkOne in our building helps the library continue to serve the community in a meaningful way. We look forward to a positive partnership with WorkOne in helping to equip the area’s workforce."
The new WorkOne Express Service Center at the library will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
