NITCO says the fiber infrastructure will provide residents with service speeds up to 1000Mbps, as well as optional services including NITCO TV, NITCO Wifi+ and voice lines.
Crews have started work in Park Place subdivision. When complete, construction crews will then begin work in Crest Knoll and Park Ridge neighborhoods. NITCO, which provides internet service in Porter, Jasper, Newton, and Lake counties, will continue to serve its existing customers and service areas.
NITCO says the project brings its total number of customers with gigabit internet capability up to more than 6,000 homes and businesses in its service area, and the utility is planning more projects in 2023.
Last year, NITCO completed its first gigabit community in the Newton County town of Morocco, a project that added fiber infrastructure to 625 homes.
Additionally, NITCO says it plans to share upcoming construction and improvement projects for the Jasper County town of Demotte.
