Heartland Film Names New President

Prater co-founded the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films and the Film Noir Festival in Palm Springs, California before being recruited by the Royal Thai government to head up the Bangkok International Film Festival. Most recently, he served as executive vice president of strategic partnerships for the San Diego International Flim Festival and director of the San Diego Jewish Film Festival.
In a release, Prater said, "Between the organization’s fantastic community support, strong reputation across the industry and Indianapolis’ ever-growing arts landscape, Heartland Film is primed and ready to take that next big step."
Prater succeeds Stuart Lowry, who announced in December that he was leaving the organization for personal reasons.
The 25th annual Heartland Film Festival is scheduled for October 20-30 throughout Indianapolis.
