The Hamilton County Community Foundation has awarded $101,000 in grants to nine Hamilton County organizations. Funding was recently approved by the foundation’s board of directors, which is affiliated with the Central Indiana Community Foundation. The grants were awarded to organizations focusing on health, education and transportation.
Grant recipients:
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana – $15,000 – to expand the adult-to-youth mentor program
- CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions – $10,000 – for Dementia Friendly Hamilton County
- Little Red Door Cancer Agency – $5,000 – to support HURU, a tobacco education program for middle school students.
- Logan Street Sanctuary, Inc. – $10,000 – to support operations of the 65-seat performance venue
- Janus Developmental Services, Inc. – $25,000 – to support reliable and affordable countywide transportation for Hamilton County residents.
- The Milk Bank – $10,000 – to launch the first Baby Café in Indiana. The café will support pregnant women and breastfeeding moms with educational opportunities and free resources
- Youth Mentoring Initiative – $10,000 – to expand the school-based mentoring program at Hamilton Southeastern High School.
- The Recovery High School at Fairbanks – $6,000 – to support transportation costs for youth recovering from substance use disorder to attend Hope Academy
- Society of St. Vincent de Paul – $10,000 – to fund the purchase of canned, fresh and frozen meats, cheeses, eggs and vegetables for over 17,000 food pantry clients.
