The four-story, 81-room Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites, to be located near I-65 and State Road 44, is expected to be complete in late 2018.
The hotel is being developed by Ohio-based Hotel Development Service and will be managed by Indianapolis-based General Hotel Corp. A spokesperson for General Hotel says the project will create up to 30 jobs.
"HDS is excited to be a part of the new gateway to Franklin at the I-65 and King Street area," said Pam Lindley, chief operating officer of Hotel Development Service. "As a developer and builder in many different communities, including our own small college town of Oxford, Ohio, we are proud to be part of this new focal point for Franklin. We take pride in our hotels and are thrilled to bring the newest hotel to this great community."
Dana Monson, interim executive director of the Johnson County Development Corp., says plans are in place to add two restaurants to the growing location.
Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett will join other city and county officials, and HDS representatives for the groundbreaking ceremony, which is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
