The Lofts at Headwaters Park, when complete, will feature more than 200 apartments, 15 townhomes, 12,000 square feet of retail space and a 651-space parking garage.
The project is being developed by Indianapolis-based Barrett & Stokely Inc., which inked an economic development agreement for the project in 2019.
Construction was originally slated to begin in early 2020, but the project saw several delays due to the pandemic, as well as rising construction costs. The original cost estimate was over $67 million.
The project received $5 million in funding from the state’s Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative last December, and has also landed additional funding from the city and county to help offset the higher costs.
Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry and Redevelopment Executive Director Jonathan Leist will join Barrett & Stokely Executive Vice President Rex Barrett for the groundbreaking ceremony, which is slated for 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
